What Happens in Vegas

Ari

The flight went by quickly. Raegan had fallen asleep shortly after the airplane took off. As they started their descent, she turned to Ari, and her head rested on his shoulder. He knew she would wake up soon, but he wanted to enjoy the moment. She looked so peaceful, and he placed a soft kiss on her head. She shuffled and opened her eyes slowly, looking up at Ari.

“Hi, sleeping beauty. We’re about to land,” he said. She looked adorable as she came out of sleep slowly.

She rubbed her eyes. “Did I sleep the whole flight? I’m sorry. I must’ve been more tired than I thought,” her voice was still husky from sleep.

“That’s okay, you needed the sleep. It’s going to be a long night.”

Ari felt nervous about the race. He always felt nervous with the Vegas race. It was hectic, and there were fans everywhere. The pressure was intense, but he felt a lot better this time, and he knew it was because of Raegan. He had always felt a sense of calm around her.

They landed and made their way to the hotel. They had separate rooms, but they were adjoining suites, so only a door separated them. Ari threw the doors open, much to Raegan’s surprise.

“Oh no, no no. These are staying closed tonight,” she laughed, and Ari winked at her. In moments like these, he almost completely forgot the business and pleasure line that he had drawn.

After a little while, Ari disappeared into his room. He had to meditate before the race. He could hear Raegan in the shower. She was leaving before him again to make sure the crew was ready and that his sponsor was happy. Earlier, she also spoke to the journalists and the media to know when they would be able to interview him.

He struggled to concentrate as he listened to her shower. He could picture the water running down her body, her innocent eyes staring up at him as she leaned up to kiss him. He felt the heat radiate through his body and tried to focus again.

A few hours later, Raegan left, and Ari was finally dressed in his racing gear. He grabbed a spare bag and packed a change of clothes for their night out after. He wanted to win, but it wasn’t the most important thing on his mind for the first time.

This was all new to him. A part of him still felt anxious at the prospect of being in a relationship. He was getting ahead of himself. Raegan had said she didn’t see them together, and he couldn’t blame her. His reputation spoke for itself.

The crowd was massive, the chants and cheers filled his ears, and the lights blinded him. He took a deep breath and disappeared into his team’s tent. Everyone nodded toward him, but no one said a word. Even Raegan smiled at him. She didn’t walk over to him, knowing he was anxious and strained before a race. This one was the biggest, so his mood was even more tense than usual.
